Iskandar Development Region


Iskandar Malaysia (IM), formerly known as Iskandar Development Region (IDR), was established on 30 July 2006. The project is administered by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and covers an area of 2,217sq km (547,830acres). Iskandar malaysia comprises of five flagship zones made up of the following key landmarks:

 

Flagship A: Johor Bahru City Centre

  • Johor Bahru Central Business District: Malaysia's 2nd largest city and a growing city hub with a population of 1 million.
  • JB Conservation & Heritage Zone Danga Bay: An integrated waterfront development covering approximately 450 acres.

 

 

Flagship B: Nusajaya

  • Kota Iskandar: 320acre integrated development comprising Johor State and federal Government offices.
  • Puteri Harbour: Integrated waterfront and marina development that spans 688 acres of panoramic view of the Straits of Johor.
  • Southern Industrial & Logistics Clusters (SiLC): 1,300 acre green industrial park situated close to two international airports and five seaports. Emphasis areas of this park are advanced technologies, nutrition & health and logistics.
  • Afiat Health Park: Development tailored to meet the increasing local and regional demand for premier and holistic healthcare services.
  • EduCity@Iskandar: 600acre education enclave which adopts a multi-varsity approach with eight tertiary faculties on campus.
  • International Destination Resort: Top-notch destination resort with international brand theme parks and other supporting amenities.
  • Medini Iskandar Malaysia: 2,225acre urban township with features including the 350acre Iskandar Financial District (IFD) planned as an Islamic finance hub of Southeast Asia and Asia’s first LEGOLAND theme park, scheduled to open in 2012.

 

Flagship C: Western Gate Development

  • Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP): Currently undergoing RM1.4billion on the expansion of four berths to increase the handling capacity of PTP to 12million TEUs.
  • Maritime Centre: A proposal to develop a 2,215acre maritime centre at Tanjung Bin that comprises of oil terminal facilities, logistic parks and real estate development.
  • Ramsar World Heritage Park: 23,000 acres that includes the largest uninhabited mangrove island in the world.

 

Flagship D: Eastern Gate Development

  • Tanjung Langsat Port (TLP): The third port in Johor; designed to complement the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Johor Port in Pasir Gudang. TLP is positioned as a premier speciality terminal, handling bulk cargo such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and dangerous chemicals.
  • Pasir Gudang Industrial Park: One of Johor Corporation’s many successful industrial estates, housing more than 300 manufacturing companies.
  • Pasir Gudang Circuit: International class motor racing circuit operating in accordance with the strict FIM World GP homologation requirements.
  • Johor Port: Services include handling a diverse range of cargo including dry cargo, general cargo, liquid bulk and containers

 

Flagship E: Senai-Skudai

  • Sultan Ismail International Airport (Senai International Airport): Main airport that serves the southern states of Malaysia with capacity to handle up to 4.5 million passengers and 100,000 tonnes of cargo per annum.
  • Senai Free Zone: 200acre area designated to be leased out for logistics and hi-tech manufacturing activities.
  • Aero Mall, Senai International Airport: RM70 million plan for the first standalone external airport mall with retail space of 10,000 square feet (be completed 2010).
